Ron,

Whenever a Mac application consistently crashes upon launch and I =20
can't figure out why, the first thing I do is create a clean, new test =20=

account, log in to it, and try to launch the app from there. (You've =20
effectively already done this step.) If the app launches properly in =20
one account but not another, then a likely culprit is some corrupted =20
preference file or application support file buried in the home folder/=20=

directory of the problematic account.

At that point I start either trashing (followed by "Empty Trash") =20
the .plist files in the problematic account which are related to the =20
app, or at least moving them somewhere other than the folder where =20
they usually reside, such as the desktop. Those .plist files are =20
usually in ~/Library/Preferences, often with a file name that looks =20
like "com.<company>.<application>....plist". (Note: Tilde '~' is Unix =20=

shorthand for an account's home directory; for example, ~/Library in =20
my own account would be /Users/windsor/Library.)

If the app still crashes on launch then I perform the same procedure =20
with any other application support files I can find which appear to be =20=

both related to the crashing app, and also specific to the problematic =20=

account. If they exist, they're probably in ~/Library/Application =20
Support.

BTW, I think in most cases you can navigate a Finder window to ~/=20
Library and simply do a local file name search (using the app name as =20=

the search's keyword) to find some likely suspects, but, when I tried =20=

that just now, the search results mysteriously omitted many of the =20
Compressor files that I know exist, including the .plist files; I have =20=

no idea why.

Anyway, that approach has fixed launch problems for me at least three =20=

times in the past; hope it works for you.
