I just purchased and received a new Canon Vixia HV 40 high-def =
tape-based camcorder. I also just purchased a Jumpstart tutorial DVD =
that lays out all the features of a Vixia HV 30.

Are there any other instructional/informative materials on the 'net I =
can access that will help me get up to speed with this new cam? The HV =
40 looks to be a nice little "prosumer" unit, and I'd like to get the =
most out of it as quickly as possible. I have never shot anything in HD =
before, although I do have an old Canon ZR40 MiniDV-tape-based =
standard-def cam. So I am familiar with using the tapes.

I also just bought the newest Final Cut Studio for my MacBook Pro. In =
addition, I already have iLife 2009 and Final Cut Express 4. I want to =
gain as much experience using all of this hardware and software to build =
a video and tech portfolio.

Is the tape-branding lubricant issue still a worry? For years, I was =
using Sony MiniDV cassettes with my Canon ZR40. I do have other brands =
of tapes, mostly Maxell.=
