There are two Workshops - you can pay for one - or pay one price for both. The majority of currently registered attendees will be staying all day.

The morning is 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

"Build Your Business: Growing Your Production or Post Production Business in Any Economic Climate"

Topics to be discussed:
Using social media, blogging tips,
Using Google Analytics,search engine optimization,
Becoming a great salesperson and being more persuasive,
Cutting costs and how to work smarter by producing more cheaply,
Getting paid faster, and understanding the value of owning your content.

Testimonial:
""The New Now" doesn't say to lower your prices! It tells you how to sell solutions, not your services. It even investigates the opportunities working distantly.

The Internet has certainly made this possible. It's the wave of the future too I believe."

The Afternoon is 2 pm to 5 pm

"How To Grow and Monetize an Audience for Your Independent Production"

You'll learn from the experience of others:
When to start building an audience
How to identify and reach your "core audience"
How to 'Connect with Fans"
How to create and use your evangelists
The role of the production blog and how to build out your production website
How to get your website found in search engines
How to use modern PR techniques
Having built an audience it's time to monetize by:
Learning how CwF + RtB = profits
Monetizing free content (and even piracy)
Examining the six most common monetizing strategies and how they apply to independent projects
Learn which strategies have been the most effective for other projects.

All the information is liberally backed with case studies.

Testimonials:
"On this occasion his topic was "Growing An Audience for your Indy Production." Phillip pointed out that a major paradigm shift has taken place. Where once distribution (as well as advertising, promotion and building an audience for that distribution) was the job of a distributor or a network, it now falls to the filmmaker or content creator. Hodgetts presented case histories of creative and successful self-distribution, talked about piracy, blogging, using the internet and tribal marketing, among others."

We will keep the online registration open until noon on Sat or until the classes are filled, whichever comes first.

If registration reads we are SOLD OUT we are full.

If people show up to pay at the door, we will sort it out, but will not take more than 20 for each session- that is all that is comfortable in the room. So if you have a long drive, pay online as soon as possible.

There are no pre requisites for this class other than a willingness to learn, and to follow the presentations.

The content is aimed for independents that need to know more about business in a digital global economy, and marketing on the web, and with social media.

Meals are not included, so you can brown bag it, or go to one of the numerous cafes or shops in the area.
We will be hosted by Create More - same place as Mark Spencer's workshop on June 5 - approximately at 3rd and Townsend in San Francisco = basically 4 blocks away from where SF Cutters meets at Adobe in San Francisco.

Create More will have some great discounts for everyone who attends. Create More is an Mac Specialist and sells Apple iMacs, all laptops, and towers including PRO line and a wide variety of software, support gear, and accessories including storage, and Apple displays. People had a great time shopping with Alberto and he provides fantastic location support for both workshops.

Create More was one of the original locations for SF Cutters meetings, and was the site of the very first SuperMeet, so SF Cutters has a long history with Create More, which continues to support us in many ways, including hosting the SF Cutters website www.sfcutters.org , Cutter Talk and SF Cutters Announcements.

June 19th is not a game day so there will be on street parking, or you can get a reasonable all day rate at local garages - there are plenty since the same area serves the Giants, who are not in town - we did check that first.

Philip will be giving EVERY attendee a copy of his book "The New Now"

Review of "The New Now" by Jerry Hoffman on Ken Stone:

I will be putting together the RAFFLE - yes even though this is limited to 20 people we have a raffle, and I only have so much time. So the faster this sells out the more time I have to rustle Raffle. Right now I have about 10-12 items, books, one of Philip's items from his website, Pond 5 certificates for music or stock footage, and I think we have something new from Pixelflow. Motivate me, save me time and sign up sooner than later, and in the end you benefit. I don't make a dime from any raffle.

Also I have some special info from Stacey Parks - who is a highly regarding specialist on Independent Film Distribution. Stacey sent me a set dvds on Distribution to share with SF Cutters, and for those who come back early from lunch - we will take a look together.
